About
Sieb studied at St. Joost Academy and the Willem de Kooning Academy. After many years living and working in Italy, he has now established his studio in Amsterdam.
In his paintings, Sieb explores the human condition and the small stories that unfold behind every face and within everyday life. His characters often inhabit a world that feels familiar, yet at the same time carries something strange, unexpected, or slightly surreal.
He works with vivid colours, simplified forms, and strong contours and his paintings have a direct, almost graphic quality. Yet beneath this apparent simplicity lies a layered narrative.
Humour and seriousness exist side by side, inviting the viewer to wonder: Who is this person? What is happening here? And what do I recognise in them?
His work explores imagination, memory, and the ways in which we perceive ourselves and others.
From his studio in Amsterdam, Sieb continues to develop a distinctive body of work in which colourful imagery and intimate human stories come together.
